How to Use:
For perfect storage of your jams and preserves it is important that your glass preserve storage jars are prepared before use. Here are some essential tips from our customer services team here at Rinkit.com to help you get the best results from your preserves and jams every time:
- Place your jars in a large saucepan or a jam pan, and fill and cover with cold water. Bring to the boil and keep at this temperature for around 10 minutes. This will kill any bacteria safely. Do NOT pour boiling water directly into the jars- this can damage the jars and do NOT use the oven method of heating as ovens often circulate bacteria already in the oven.
- Whilst those jars are bubbling away place any vacuum seal lids or rubber seals in a small pan and cover with cold water. Heat and simmer at just below boiling for around 10 minutes or so. When 10 minutes is up turn the heat off and cover the pan until you need your lids or seals.
- Fill your jars with your jam or preserves, and remember everything will be very hot, so always wear some good quality oven gloves and fill over a sturdy surface- we use a wood chopping board.
